Project Overview
"Project LAC" is currently underway to enhance small US Technology
company involvement in Latin America and the Caribbean (LAC). Project
LAC is a seven month project designed to take practical experience,
research and information on doing business in these regions to educate
and help small US Technology companies begin doing business in the
LAC.
Apply Now! - 10 Small US Technology Companies to be Selected
"Project LAC" will select up to 10 small US Technology companies from
across the United States to participate. These companies will be
invited to join the Trade Mission to selected areas of the LAC to get
introduced to the region and to begin business development "hands on".
Participants will also receive research results on the doing business
in the region in the form of a White Paper and Practical Guide.
Any company wishing to win a spot on the Trade Mission should
download and review the Request For
Application and complete a response by May 1, 2007. Smaller
companies have fewer resources for RFAs, therefore the RFA has been
designed to take limited time to complete. We encourage any technology
company with interest in expanding to the LAC to apply.
Trade Mission - Going to the LAC is the First Step to Expanding
your Business
The project will include a "hands on" Trade Mission to the LAC
region during the last two weeks of July, 2007. The Trade Mission has
been specifically developed for small companies that have limited resources to expand into new regions
internationally. The purpose of the Trade Mission is to provide a
"hands on" introduction into the rapidly growing economies of the LAC.
The Trade Mission will introduce US companies to the business
communities and the local opportunities for technology in selected
regions and, equally important, will introduce US companies to local
customs and culture. A tentative itinerary is available on this site
and exact dates and itinerary will be provided on this website later
this spring.
White Paper and Practical Guide
Participants will receive research results on the doing business in
the region in the form of a White Paper and Practical Guide focused on
the selected regions in the LAC.
Selected LAC Regions and Technologies
The LAC is a broad region and Technology is a broad topic, so for
the purposes of this project, we will narrow the scope to 3-5
countries in the region and up to 5 technology focuses. However, the
lessons learned from the results of this project can be applied to the
entire LAC region and all technologies.
